Question: What kind of spark plugs do I need?

What spark plugs do I need and what is the cost. The car is misfiring so the mechanic said I should get a $600 tune-up. I don't have that kind of money and thought maybe I could get away with new plugs and wires. I priced the wires at about $100 but cannot find the plugs.
